Hey guys!
Sorry for the delay in updating. I’m really hoping to
contribute to this blog more often. I will also try posting more general updates and writing through this
blog. I’d like to have more than just recipes and instructions here.
So for today’s post I wanted to explain one reason I have
trouble updating regularly. It’s the same reason that almost prevented me from
having a channel at all.
I’m a bit of a perfectionist. I have wanted to make a
blog/YouTube channel/internet presence for over 5 years now. I wrote out page
after page of ideas large and small. What I wanted the webpage to look like, my
theme, my logo, the lingo I wanted to invent to identify my channel, and how I
wanted my videos to look and feel. Except I didn’t have the balls to just go
for it.
Once I had all my ideas, I felt like the next step had to be
my own education. I needed to learn how to create my webpage from scratch so
that it would be entirely my own. I needed to learn how to draw up my designs
digitally and professionally. I needed a
top-notch camera in order to film and photograph—maybe even two cameras, so
that I could easily get the multiple angles I’d want to film. I needed to
master video editing software. Was my current software good enough? Probably
not—I need the best!
I was distressed. I couldn’t learn everything as fast as I
wanted to, and I wanted everything to be perfect at once. I spent a lot of my
time beating myself up. If I wasn’t mad at myself for not putting out content,
I was mad at myself for not becoming adept at the skills I thought were
necessary to produce that content.
And eventually I had grown tired of beating myself up. I
needed something to show for that distress. So I just did it. It’s as simple as
that. It wasn’t pretty and it still isn’t exactly what I want, but at least something
is there.
It’s like building a house, I think. It’s exciting to plan
and think of what you want it to be. But if you spend all your money on tables
and wall art, instead of building the floor or the walls, what is there to show
for that investment? You need to build the frame. You need the integrity and
strength of a base first, or else there is no place for the decorations.
This whole time I had been stockpiling my decorations
instead of placing the cornerstone.
So I hope that while my photos may not be vibrant, my video
not crystal clear, and my webpage not beautiful, you will forgive me because
you like what I want to show you. I hope you enjoy your time here. I hope that
you never feel like you wasted your minutes reading a blog post you don’t care
about or watching a video that is not interesting.
I know I say it a lot, but I have a lot of ideas that I want
to share. So I’m going to try hard to make these ideas come to life.

Keep an eye out for my next post. I think that one will be a
little more fun.
Thanks for reading. :)
